Aged leads vs fresh leads: which should you buy?
Aged leads vs fresh leads is a choice about how long ago someone asked for help, and what has happened since. Compare the date of the enquiry, current need, resale history and work needed to reach a sale. Lead age alone does not tell you which batch will pay off.
PrimeLeads supplies new enquiries on a pay per lead basis. Use the checks below to compare a quote for new leads with an older list you are considering.

Check the date and what has changed
Ask the seller how it defines fresh or aged. Request the original enquiry date and the date the lead will reach you. An older lead may have bought, changed plans or still be looking. A new enquiry may also need time before a sale. The record and your first call should help you find out.
| Dimension | Aged leads | Fresh leads |
|---|---|---|
| Timing | How long since the original request? | How soon after capture will it reach you? |
| Earlier contact | Who has already received or called it? | Is it sent to one buyer or several? |
| Current need | Has the job been done or the policy bought? | What did the person ask for now? |
| Your workload | What will it take to check the need again? | Can your team respond while the request is new? |
Keep age separate from sharing and consent
A fresh lead can be shared. An older lead may have gone to one buyer. Our exclusive vs shared leads guide explains that separate choice. Ask for the original source, request and consent record. Buying a record does not by itself show that the person agreed to hear from your business.
Your own past enquiry is also different from a list bought from someone else. You may have notes about the person's plans and an agreed date to call again. Check that history before treating all older leads the same way.
Tell us your service, area and the number of leads you can call. Compare the agreed price and checks with your other options.
Compare cost per sale, including sales time
Add the batch price to the cost of the time spent calling and following up. Divide that total by the sales won. Track contact rate and sales from each source separately, over a period that fits your sales cycle. The lead ROI calculator can help compare lead spend; add staff costs to your own totals.
Before paying, agree the batch size, age range, previous sharing and rules for credits. Choose a batch your team has time to work. A low price per name can still cost too much per sale, while a higher price needs results to justify it.
